When the airplane arrived, I was ready to get up after 15 hours in the sky. And I was happy that I don't have to listen to the babe cries 2 seats in front of me or the India guy who sits next to me. God. The India guy bothered me so much at first. He wouldn't turn off his cellphone at all, and was keep talking on it even the plane was on the runway prepare to take off. Finally, I had enough of it and had to tell him to turn off his phone.
I didn't like Guangzhou Bai-Yun international airport at all. It's an older airport, so everything looked not up to date compare to Beijing international airport. The custom was packed with people. The section for Chinese citizens was full of people but not in order. People were trying to cut in front of each other. That bothered me a lot. And next to the custom section was a group of Forgieners from Africa been tested for Ebola. That added some uneasyness for eveyone. Finally, I went through the custom and crossed a big hall with people to the section of domestic flight. I had to go through security check and ended up at another building.
The waiting area were packed with Chinese people who mostly are tanned. I didn't understand why since Asian always want whiter skin. Then I remember that I was at southern China where is like FL. While I was waiting for my flight to Chengdu. I kept hearing delays of other flights. I heard that is a very common problem for air travel in China. Lucky, my flight didn't. I got on the flight and had a seat next to a girl of my age. I was happy about that 'cause I didn't want to end up sitting next to loud taking older people. I also text my cousin who was suppose to pick me up. And text my dad as well.
The flight from Guangzhou to Chengdu was only 2 hours. When I got off the plane, I did feel the humid air that I remember my hometown has. It was warm but not hot. My suitcases came out fast but I was still one the the least people to go out 'cause I was taking my time. I didn't want to jump into a new life style right away. When I walked out with my two big suitcase, I saw my dad. Which that I got text from him says he will pick me up 'cause my cousin remembered the wrong date. To my surprise, my aunt was there with another of my cousin too. I was happy to see them and mostly because I knew someone is there to help me carry the two 45lbs suitcase to the 7th floor without elevator.
The city looked same as last time. It's only been 2 years and I had the feeling that I will get use to this fast. I got home and my mom was still up and waiting for me. She was exciting to see me and couldn't wait to show me her skinny legs and arms due to the chemo. Of course, she was crying. But honestly, she looked much much better than I thought. And as later days at home, it proved that her health is much much better than I thought.
I went in to my little room which use to be my parents room. My parents took my big room when I left 16 years ago. My dad set up a bed in his office because my mom has to get up in the night often. It's better for my dad to sleep alone. And he was use my room and now I am back. He has to sleep in his office.
My first day was mostly on the road. It is not too fun to take over 10 hours flight. But it did feel pass fast. About a day ago, I was just home in the states. And now I am home in China.
