I haven't update my blog for almost a month!! What were I doing all those time? Busy with work? Busy with study? Busy shopping? busy doing house work? All wrong....
I was caught in to watching this great Chinese TV series "Empresses In The Palace". Normally, I don't watch Chinese TV series, TV shows or movies because I found them are not my type. But time to time, I will find something wonderful. This TV series was first on air 2 years ago (Nov.17th, 2011), and it has been so famous since them. I decided to watch 1 episode when I heard many other countries started to playing it on their TV stations and it will be exported to the U.S and re-edit into six TV movies on HBO as well. Wow.. OK.
And, I got hook on it after the 1st episode during my staycation 3 weeks ago. But why I am still watching it? Here is the thing: Chinese TV series doesn't have different seasons, so one TV series can be as long as more than 100 episodes (especially, if the TV series is related to history or war). And in this case, 76 episodes. The "Empresses In The Palace" was on air Nov.17th, 2011 and ended on May.2nd,2012 in China.
I have been watching 4-8 episodes per day!! And, I am still at the episode 59!! However, I do like it. I think the "Empresses In The Palace" can be divided into 2 parts: episode 1 to 46 and episode 46 to 76. The story takes a different turn at episode 49. It make you want to watch more. The whole story is about a girl named Zhen Huan who gets selected to join the palace harem as Emperor's concubine at age 17. How she had to lose her youthful innocence to survive in palace. It is a total drama, a mind game, a love story, a friendship story, trust and betrayal and some truth of Chinese history.
If it is playing or will be played in your language at where you live, I suggest you can watch a little bit to see if you like it or not. It does take time, but it is very interesting. (Plus, I enjoyed to look at all those beautiful traditional fashions and guys can just watch all those beautiful Chinese women, enjoy!)
