Last day in D.C.. We are going back home this afternoon, but we still wanted to go couple places before we leave. First thing first, we needed to check out before noon which means we have to get out of bed before 10 a.m. to pack up and be ready. Mr.Rabbit and I have a bad habit which is sleep late. We normally won't be in bed until 1 a.m., and sleep after 2 a.m.. Now you can see why wake up before 10 a.m. is hard for us sometimes. But we did it. Checked out before noon and had a small breakfast at Starbucks which is located in hotel's lobby!
The first place that we wanted to go is Hillwood Estate Museum and Gardens. It is located at north part of D.C. which was about 30 mins of drive from the hotel. The reasons that I wanted to go there is because it suppose to have a nice collections of French and Russia arts. Hillwood is huge! It's hard to believe that someone who actually owned this place as her home. That person is Marjorie Merriweather Post, the only child of Charles William (C.W) Post who innovated in the cereal industry and had net worth of 33 millions around 1900. He died at age 59 years old and left everything for his only child Marjorie. Madam Post bought Hillwood in 1955 which is 25 acre estate. She lived there for spring and fall, upstate NY for summer, Plum beach FL for winter. The Hillwood has 10 buildings and 9 gardens. It was a wonderful life for Madam Post.

Inside of the mansion is unbelievable! I thought only royal family can live like that. The rooms are amazingly beautiful. Everything in there is worth a lot today. The dinning room, French drawing room, grand hall, library and pavilion are all amazing! There is even a movie theatre in pavilion! Unbelievable!
Outside of the house is as amazing as inside. So much land! Mr.Rabbit and I walked around the gardens. Even today, we still can see how many people are actually working around the gardens. I can't imaging how many servants Madam Post had before!
It was fun and interesting to see the Hillwood. I like to see how people use to live in other countries. And, it can give me some ideas for my future home.
After leaving from Hillwood, we headed to NASA visiter center. The NASA visiter center wasn't as great as I thought. I am not a big NASA fan, so I need something really interesting to keep me interested. But, the NASA visiter center was kind of boring. I was done 30 mins before Mr.Rabbit, and waited for him in the car.
After 5 pm, we officially left D.C.. It was traffic hour. D.C.'s rush hour wasn't any better than CT's. After on the road for over 1 hour, we decided to stop by at the Waffle house for some snacks. Who knows that the snacks became diner. The waitresses were really friendly and talked a lot. Yes. The waiters and waitresses were all too friendly in D.C. for me.
Once when we hit the road again, the traffic was much better. I drove until somewhere in NJ, then Mr.Rabbit drove all the way home. It was fast. I couldn't believe that we were just in D.C. couple hours ago on vacation and now we are back in CT for the real life.
The D.C. vacation was fun. I had good time and learned few things. I am actually looking forward for any other upcoming vacations!!
