According to my mom’s plan, we are going to shop for the wedding dress today. My mom took me to a building where it has more than 10 different wedding dress stores. Our plan was to find the traditional wedding dress for Brian and I, a western wedding dress for myself and a welcome guest dress.
It was very easy to find a the traditional wedding dress for me. I saw one when I walked in the first store, and I liked it. My mom showed me a dress had the design of Phoenix with golden beets on. It looked beautiful, but not for me. I saw one with more Chinese for me, and loved the colorfulness. And I also saw a white wedding dress with nice chinese traditional dress top and ball grown bottom. I loved it too. my mom suggested we should look at some other stores too because we make the decision. We went to more than 10 different stores. The price range is very wide. From $300RMB ($47USD) to $10,000RMB ($1580USD). But the style is almost the same: strapless ball grown. I guess that’s what Chinese woman likes.
A hour later, I was tried again and hungry. We went to eat some lunch. At the small restaurant with just ok food. I told my mom that I am kind of stressed out with all the differences between China and US, the reversed culture shock, and the too much information that they have been telling me in this short 2 days. I didn’t want to make her upset, but I guess she was a little bit. But I felt that I have to make my point across, otherwise they will keep doing to me and drive me crazy.
After the lunch, we went back to finishing our shopping. I was tired of looking at all the dresses. Most of them looked same. Nothing special. I still liked the first dress I saw in that first shop. Sometimes, the first thing catches your eye is the one. We went back to the first store, bought the Chinese wedding dress and the western wedding dress. The wedding dress was a little bit big around my waist, the sells person bought me to a tailor who has her station at hallway. The tailor fixed the dress for me in 20 mins, and I paid $20RMB ($3.16USD) for it. When we went back to the store, my mom and another sell’s person picked out a traditional chinese dress for me. It’s beautiful. I tried it on, and really liked it. It was also a little too big on my waist, so we went back to the tailor to fix it. This time, it cast me $10RMB ($1.58USD).
So, after a long day of shopping, we got everything we went there for: a traditional Chinese dress, a traditional Chinese wedding dress, a traditional Chinese wedding suit for Brian and a western wedding dress. The total cost? $3000RMB ($474USD).
Another tired day.....I went to bed at 9 p.m.
