I have been a big Japanese fan for more than 16 years because I love its culture. The culture speak to me more than another another cultures and it make sense to me and I agree on a lot.
I was lucky to have a lot of Japanese friends in college who let me into their world and understand their culture deeper. I listened to a lot of Japanese music (old and new), watched a lot of Japanese TV shows (even when I don't understand Japanese at all) and I love Japanese TV dramas and movies!
After 2007, I was unable to keep hanging out with my Japanese friends which is very sad. But it didn't change how much I enjoy the culture. I still watch a lot of TV shows, dramas and movies.
Today, I watched a wonderful romantic movie which is called WE WERE THERE. It was very real, very touch and in some way remind me of my past. Well, I didn't have a wonderful love story like that....but still it remind me of mine. My tears came out few times during the movie because it was real that I could feel how the characters feel. And, I am big fan of the main male actor since 2006!! His name is Ikuda Toma. He has a shadow of my past.
I don't know if there is one with English subtitle and I don't know if American will enjoy this movie. I say that because Japanese culture (some Chinese as well) is really passive, reserved and indirect. American might not understand their action or simply think the movie is too slow.
I just really enjoyed this movie and wanted to share with everyone~!
