I am a big fan of dance performance. I think the art of dance can touch people's heart in a way no music or traditional gallery art can do. Dance is like the combination of art and sport: one require your soul and creativity and another require your physical ability.
But myself isn't a good dancer. I took some dance class when I was little but didn't enjoy the long hours of boring practice. I didn't enjoy clubbing in my early 20s because I was too shy to move my body the way I don't normally move. I always felt dance is a very sexual thing. I started to enjoy dance in my middle 20s by join a dance club in school 'cause I am a very active person who loved sport when I was in high school but give it up after come to US. I loved how join the dance club allowed me to hangout with my friends in a group. But I was trying too hard to learn the basic skills ('cause I want to be good) that I wan't been told that dance isn't all about skills. It's about how you express yourself. When I realized that, I loved going to clubs where everybody express themselves in their own way.
With all the shows on TV like American Idol, Voice, American Got Talent and So You Think You Can Dance, the one captures my heart is always So You Think You Can Dance. I just found out China bought the rights to use that show couple years go, and there is a Chinese one. I started to watch it last night. And, WOW!!!
I always loved to watch Chinese traditional dance or formal dance. Most Chinese dancers, like our athlete, aren't armatures, They are all professional. So every dance is like a piece of art. So powerful and beautiful. I always joined that. By watching Chinese So You Think You Can Dance, I once been reminded how many wonderful dancers in China and how powerful dance can be. I also noticed that the most powerful dance style for me is no more hip-hop, free style, breaking, etc, but more classic or traditional.
So far, there is 7 episodes of Chinese So You Think You Can Dance this season and I only watched 4 of them. It's still at audition, but I am already impressed by many. I found 4 of my favorites on Youtube and want to share with everyone. There are many more good dancers, but I just couldn't find a
